About the Deanship

Out of Northern Borders University’s keenness to achieve its vision and mission by achieving local and international standards. The Deanship of Quality and Academic Accreditation was established by University Council’s decisionNo. 4 at its third meeting for the academic year 1431/1432 AH on 18/6/1432 AH to achieve national and international academic accreditation requirements.

The deanship is needed to achieve quality requirements in all academic and administrative units of the university and improve overall performance, launch developmental plans and policies to meet national institutional and programmatic accreditation requirements, and other accreditation programs qualifying for international accreditation. The Deanship of Quality and Academic Accreditation was initially organizationally affiliated with the Vice President of the University for Academic Affairs until 1436 AH, until the establishment of the Vice Presidency of Development, Community Partnership.

Goals and Tasks

The main goal of the Deanship of Quality and Academic Accreditation is to ensure the quality of university education performance and its processes to obtain institutional and programmatic accreditation.

Goals:

  • Disseminate and promote quality, and academic accreditation culture among faculty members and staff.
  • Improve the university's institutional and programmatic performance following quality, and national and international academic accreditation standards.
  • Obtain institutional academic accreditation.
  • Obtain programmatic academic accreditation.
  • Ensure comprehensive quality in all university entities.

 

Tasks

  • Prepare plans for the Deanship's activities and follow up on their implementation.
  • Supervise organizational units associated with the Deanship administratively and technically, coordinate among them to ensure activities complementation and maximization of available means.
  • Propose plans and projects to meet quality assurance standards, skills development, and efficiency of university education.
  • Follow-up on the implementation of the university's policy for institutional and programmatic academic accreditation.
  • Design, development, and review of quality assurance programs and continuous improvement of all activities carried out by the university.
  • Build and develop measurement systems to determine the quality of the services provided by the university, the efficiency and effectiveness of performance, and their application in coordination with the Center for Institutional Effectiveness.
  • Follow up on the task forces of quality programs and projects and provide technical and advisory support and facilities in all the university's units.
  • Represent the university in communicating with the institutional academic accreditation bodies and local and international programs and implement the tasks necessary to meet all the requirements of the quality-related bodies for all the university's activities.
  • Follow up on the evaluation of academic programs, ensure that they meet quality standards, and coordinate their continuous improvement with those involved.
  • Propose plans and programs for NBU staff nomination for the University's Excellence Awards in coordination with the Centre for Institutional Effectiveness.
  • Set performance benchmarks for all quality-related activities, and review and continuously develop them.
  • Identify, continuously review, and develop performance measurement indicators for all activities related to the Deanship and prepare periodic reports on the Deanship's activities, achievements, and proposals for performance development.
  • Identify the Deanship's human resources, hardware, and materials requirements and monitor their provision.
  • Identify the training needs of the Deanship's staff to nominate them for appropriate training programs.
  • Raise quality awareness and performance through meetings, seminars, and workshops specialized in quality assurance and the development of university education.
  • Do any other tasks entrusted to it within its limits.
